Louis B Cumro 88, passed away January 6th 2019 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln. He was born to William and Margaret (Lyhane) Cumro on May 14th 1930 in Hollenberg Kansas. Louis  graduated high school from Hollenberg High School in 1948. he attended Fairbury junior college for 2 years and he graduated from K-State College in 1954 with a degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Louis started his career in Odell Nebraska where he opened his practice. He served the surrounding communities for 51 years. Louis was united in marriage to Sandra Kruger on October 25th 1958, whom he met while working on her 4-H cattle. To this union three daughters were born. He “LOVED” coon hunting black n tan coonhounds were his favorite.Louie and Sandy traveled to many states to go hunting. He was a lifetime member of the Kansas-Nebraska Coon Hunters Association in Diller Nebraska. Louis enjoyed gardening fishing riding horses caring for Animals of any kind but he especially loved his Bulldogs. Louis was an avid supporter of his three daughters activities and carried that through life on to support his grandchildren and his great grandchildren's activities.

He is survived by wife Sandra Cumro of Odell, daughters Kimberly (Malchow) (James) Franzen of Plymouth, Kay(Daylon)Theye of Odell and Kristine(Kenneth) Cook of Washington Kansas, 11 grandchildren Adam Rohr, Kylie Rohr,  Brooke Koch( Jason Arnold),DVM’s Shauna & Brian Davis, Joshua Malchow, Amanda(JJ)Johnsen, Kasey(Trevor) Murphy, Jamie( Chris)Schluter, Kelly Theye(Kurt Burken), Jordie Theye and Korey Theye, 17 great-grandchildren Bowdie Roelfs, Hudsyn Rohr, Alice, Drew and Nicole Arnold, Andie Koch, Taylor Koch,Aubrey Sluka, Emery Sluka, Dre Garrison,Colton,Case, Kinsley, Kodie  and Corbin Davis, Cash Murphy and Tenlee Murphy,Brother Maurice (Viola) Cumro of Fairbury and sister-in-law Wilma Cumro of Summerfield Kansas and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Adolph, William, Martin & Dennis, sister Catharine Nutsch, son-in-law Dennis Malchow,sister-in- law Carol Goettler and in-laws Richard and Wilma Kruger.

“Doc” as he was always called  was a hardworking man who had a kind heart, a gentle touch and was a friend to all he met, he will be greatly missed by all.

Services will be Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Odell. Rosary will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Vance-Gerdes Funeral Home in Odell and the family will greet friends following the Rosary.  Burial will be in Odell Czech Cemetery.  Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice.  Vance-Gerdes Funeral Home in Odell is in charge of arrangements.
