Louis Frederick Dieckgraeff, 93, of Fairbury, formerly of Cook, NE, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Gardenside Care Center in Fairbury. He was born on August 12, 1923 near Talmage, NE to Louis and Helene Schneidewind Dieckgraeff. He was baptized December 16, 1923 and confirmed on April 24, 1938. Louis lived in Cook, NE until 1963 when he moved to Fairbury. He has lived at the Gardenside Care Center the past 8 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Elsie Krause; ex-wife Arlene Schultz; his brother Ernest at age 15; his sisters Irene Erwin of Davenport, IA, Dora Dermann of Lincoln, NE, Minnie Leach of Owensville, MO; and step-daughter Rita Herald of Denver, CO.
He is survived by his sister Tina Wilken of Tecumseh, NE; special cousin, Geraldine Katz of Fairbury, nieces Helen (Norm) Michel of DeWitt, NE; Lucille Kerner of Black Hawk, SD; Marj (Tom) Adcock of Omaha, NE; Delores Bischoff of Cook, NE; nephews Paul (Diane) Wilken of Cook, NE; Ernest Dillard of Mendon, MO; Jim (Connie) and Ed (Myra) Leach of Owensville, MO; and step-children Karen (Jerry) Stevens of Beatrice, NE; Carla Shultz of Denver, CO and Gary Shultz of Henderson NV.
Services will be Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ at Gladstone, NE, with Pastor Bill Jardine officiating. Burial will be in Zion UCC Cemetery at Gladstone. Memorials are suggested to the church. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury in charge of arrangements.
