Lynn A. Georgi

Lynn A. Georgi, 82 of Fairbury, NE passed away January 10, 2015. He was born September 13, 1932 at Dawson, NE to Henry and Bernice (Iliff) Georgi. He was baptized and confirmed in Dawson at the United Methodist Bethel Church.

Lynn attended school at Dawson where he participated in football and chorus. His summers were spent in the fields helping farmers in the area. He attended Peru State College prior to enlisting into the U. S. Navy in 1952 and discharged in 1956. He was assigned to USS Princeton where he made 4 trips overseas.

September 27, 1953, he was united in marriage to Evelyn (Durfee) Georgi. To this union were the birth of two children, Michael Lee Georgi and Cindy Lynn (Georgi) Rosener.

He went to work for H. B. Riley Ford in Fairbury, in July of 1956. He worked at this establishment for 50 plus years under different owners, ending his career with C & O Ford, after retiring.

He enjoyed camping at Wakefield Lake for 47 years, boating, fishing, and hunting. His highlight in life was his family. This included his Navy, Ford, Camping and Gardenside Staff families.

He was a member of the American Legion & VFW. He was also an ELKS member for several years.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents Max & Ellen Georgi, and Cleon & Flora Iliff, parents Henry and Bernice Georgi, and father and mother-in-law Lawrence and Verna Durfee.

Survivors are Evelyn, wife of 61 years, son Mike (Denise Nespor) Georgi of Hebron, daughter Cindy (Georgi) (Jerry) Rosener of Fairbury, grandchildren Amber Georgi of Lincoln, Lisa (Rosener) Wilson (Matt) of Holdrege, NE, Nick (Saril Hunt) Georgi of Fairbury, Tyler (Mikaela Hamm) Rosener of Fairbury, great-granddaughter Hartley Rae Rosener of Fairbury, brother Gary Georgi of Temecula CA, and many wonderful family and friends.

Services will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Fairbury, NE. with Lana Likens officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery and Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
