Marilyn Novotny

Clara Marilyn Novotny lived a long life and we have been blessed to have her in our lives. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy. They were married 70 years.

Marilyn was born on August 14, 1922. Growing up in the depression, Marilyn shared stories of going to school sometimes in a wagon and horses. Marilyn and Rudy were high school sweethearts. In high school, she taught grade school in Krider and then also Bennett Nebraska.

Marilyn worked most of her life at home raising three children as well as other jobs, clerk at grocery store, clerk at clothes store and later working for Vance Funeral Home.

Marilyn’s faith in God was strong. She was active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. At the nursing home, she always participated in the Church services and communion from the visiting Catholic Church. Marilyn loved music and would sing along to her favorite hymns.

Marilyn’s smile and kindness was contagious. The staff at the nursing home and her family would know how to make her smile and laugh and Marilyn also would have everyone laughing and smiling. She was happy and very kind.

When you remember Marilyn, think live, laugh and love. Marilyn lived a long, beautiful life. In the last years of her life, Marilyn was always happy and full of laughter. Marilyn was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter, Grandmother and Friend who was loved by all the people that knew her.

Services will be at 11:00 am Friday October 16, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odell. There will be a Rosary at 7 pm Thursday October 15th at Vance-Gerdes Funeral Home in Odell and the family will greet friends afterward.
