Marjorie Dorothy Collins Grone was born June 15 1931 on a farm north of Washington Kansas to Guy Edward Collins and Teresa Marie Clair Collins. She lived there during her childhood years attending Scribner country school until the 8th grade when she had to drop out to help her mother care for her brothers Cleo, Jim, Alva and William.
At the age of 15, she worked for Dr. Morgan as a nurse aide in Steele City, Ne. She lived there with some of the other aides until she met and fell in love with her future husband Loren Dean Grone. At the age of 16 they were married on August 10, 1947 at her parents farm near Washington, Ks. To this union 4 children were born. Suzzette, Shirley, Ronald and Donald. They lived in Washington, Ks, Edwards, Mo, Diller, Ne and Steele City, Ne during their marriage.
Marjorie had a love for animals. During retirement she started raising goats as a hobbie. She often said they were her great friends because they never talked back to her.
She helped give out ribbons at the county fair for the goat division, something she enjoyed very much.
She was a teachers aide at the Steele City school and loved every minute of it, even when she had to scrape the ice and snow off the sidewalks and steps.
Dean and Marjorie were married 65 years before he passed. They went to polka dances all over the USA in their fifth wheel camper.
After Dean died she moved to Fairbury, Ne and lived there for several years. She enjoyed going to card parties with her friends and going to church. In 2020 Marjorie moved to Lincoln, Ne to be close to her daughter Shirley and then in November 2021 she moved to Hawkins, Texas to live with her son Ronald and his wife Denise King Grone.
Marjorie was back in her element living in the country, sitting on the porch watching the birds over looking the lake. She became very attached to Ron's puppy Ringo.
