Marjorie (Marge) Schultz Freitag was born December 10, 1939 to Edgar and Pearle Linson Schultz at the Reed Hospital at Deshler, NE. She died September 26, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society.
She was baptized at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Deshler December 1939. She attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School at Deshler until 1953 when her family moved to Fairbury, NE. She was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in June, 1954 and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1958.
She was united in marriage to Darrel Freitag of Diller on May 24, 1959 at Grace Lutheran Church at Fairbury. They spent the first year of their marriage at Ruskin, NE where Darrel taught in the Ruskin Elementary School. In 1960, they returned to Fairbury where Darrel had accepted a position in the Fairbury Public Schools as West Ward teacher. Their three children, Kimberly, Kristyn, and Douglas were born in Fairbury.
She was employed at American Charter Federal Savings & Loan in Fairbury where she spent the majority of her work years as a teller and new accounts counselor. She was an avid reader and collector, and was involved in genealogy researching her own lines and also her husband, Darrel’s.
In 2006, she and her husband, Darrel, moved to Beatrice, NE. They joined Holy Cross Lutheran Church in 2007. They celebrated 57 years of marriage.
She is survived by her husband, Darrel; three children, Kimberly Stephens of Winston-Salem, NC, Kristyn Pishny and her husband, John, of Fairbury, and Douglas Freitag, of Beatrice . She is also survived by four grandchildren, Nathan Stephens of Winston Salem, Heather Stephens of Daejeon, South Korea, Michaela Bowles (Zachary) of Marble Falls, TX, and Emily Pishny of Dodge, NE; one great-granddaughter, Valaina Bowles; her mother, Pearle Schultz of Fairbury; sisters, Barbara Bauer and her husband, Phil, of Papillion, and Joyce DeBoer and husband, Bob, of Fairbury; and three brothers, Eldon Schultz and his wife, Jean, of Bellevue, NE, Dale Schultz and his wife, Paula, of Fairbury, Steve Schultz of Fairbury, and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Julius and Louise Schultz and Charles and Laura Linson; her father, Edgar Schultz; her brother, Daryl Schultz; her nephew, Darren DeBoer; and her son-in-law, Jack Stephens.
A Celebration of Life service will be held September 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating. Internment at Prairie Home Cemetery near Diller, NE at 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
