Marlys Grummert

Marlys Grummert 78 of Jansen, passed away Saturday at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln. She was born October 21, 1935 at Plymouth, NE to Arthur and Selma Niemeier Meyer. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1949.

Marlys graduated Fairbury Junior College 1955 and the University of Nebraska in 1969 with a teacher degree. She taught in Washington, Kansas, Plymouth, Nebraska and in the Fairbury School System for 36 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and played the organ for 62 years.

Preceded in death by her parents and brothers Marvin and Melvin. She is survived by her husband Dale, Son Michael Grummert and wife Deb of Jansen, NE, daughters Michele Ehmen and husband Bruce of Adams, NE, Cindy Hahn and husband Scott of Jansen, NE. 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Brother Merlin Meyer and wife Jan of Wymore, NE and a sister-in-law Darlene Meyer of Lincoln, NE.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury with Pastor Stan Ostgren and Pastor Charles Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Hour. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
