Mary Ella Manley was born April 23, 1918 to George & Ella (Baily) Doebele on a farm near Hanover, KS. She was Baptized & Confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover & went to school at Hanover also.
God called her home August 3, 2015 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury, NE. from congestive heart failure. She was 97 years of age. She worked as a cook for Dr. Morgan in Steele City, NE. & later as a cook for the Fairbury, NE. College dorms. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, & crafts. In July of 1935 she married Loyal Manley. Most of their married life was around Hollenberg, KS. & Steele City, NE.
To this union 4 children were born Joyce Ann, Valjean, Eileen, Larry.
Preceding her in death are 3 Brothers Emmet, Leonard, & Pete, Sister Velma Elwood, Husband Loyal Manley, Daughter Joyce Ann who died in infancy in 1936 and Son Valjean who died in 1973.
Survivors are Daughter: Eileen Criner & husband Delbert of Scottsbluff, NE., Son: Larry Manley & Wife Rhonda of Washington, KS., 6 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, & Friends.
Services will be at 10:30 am Friday August 7, 2015 at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home Chapel in Fairbury with Darlene Novotny officiating.
