Mattie Mary Leigh

Mattie Mary passed on Thursday morning, February 21st at Orchard Park Health Care Center in Centennial CO. She was 91 years, 1 month and 23 days. She was born Dec. 29, 1921 in Diller, Nebraska. She Married Harold M. Leigh on April 17, 1940 in Washington Kansas and lived in Fairbury, NE until moving to Fremont Ne in 1958. Mattie retired from JC Penney's in Fremont, NE in May of 1987. She moved to Colorado in 1990 where she lived until 2013.

Preceding her in death were her husband Harold M. Leigh and daughter Marilyn Martha Leigh. Mother, Evada Bell Poteet Saathoff and Father Claus Johnson Saathoff. Her brothers Harold, Chester (Chatter) and sister Emmerine (Dottie) Hughes.

Surviving are two brothers Mike Saathoff of Arizona and Donald Saathoff of Colorado. Other survivors include three sons, Robert D. Leigh of Fremont, CA, James M. Leigh of Phoenix, AZ and Gerald D. Leigh of Lincoln, NE and one daughter Patricia A. Leigh Klug of Littleton CO. 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her desires for burial were to be at Fairbury, Nebraska Cemetery next to her husband Harold M. Leigh and daughter Marilyn Martha Leigh. Services will be on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Fairbury. Burial will follow at the Fairbury Cemetery.
