Maudie June Parker passed away May 20, 2017 at the age of 93. She was born September 14, 1923 to Bertrum and Orpha Kaufman in Bassett, NE.
After working in Bassett at the General Store she attended Northwest Bible Institute in Seattle Washington, where she studied Children Youth Evangelism under R. A. Busby.
On May 14, 1950, she married Clarence Parker in Bassett, NE. To this union were born four boys. After moving to Fairbury, Ne. in 1969, Maudie started working at the Heritage Care Center in September of that year, starting out in Dietary for four years, then Housekeeping for one year before transferring to Laundry for the remaining of her thirty seven years.
She loved the Lord and was extremely involved within her church. She enjoyed camping and growing things. She was also well known for her baking ability of pies and making her famous homemade crust. Some say her peach and cream pies were the best.
Her grandchildren were the source of fun and laughter for her and she was well known to start a water fight on occasion. Maudie always had a smile and would even provide a back scratch on occasion.
Maudie has four boys, Wayne (Julie), Larry, Darrell (Kathy), Allen (Connie) all of Fairbury, 11 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, husband Clarence, son Darrell, a daughter-in-law Mary Jane, and great-grandson Dominic.
Services will be Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at First Church of God in Fairbury with Rev. Steve Barnes and Pastor Kerry Moody officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6 – 8 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
