Mearle (Shoebotham) Rush, 96, was born July 28, 1919, passed away March 18, 2016. Mearle was born in Reynolds, NE to Russel and Marie (Compton) Shoebotham. She had one sibling, Leland.
Mearle was a 15-plus year member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Lincoln. She was a Life member of the National Education Association, Phi Delta Gamma, and past state president of Kappa Kappa Iota.
Mearle and George Grossoehme were married in 1940 and had two children, son Leland, who died in infancy and a daughter Laura. In later years she married Leslie Rush.
Mearle was a life-long teacher. She ended her career after 19 years at Pound Junior High. She then worked 13 years at Eastern Ambulance/Rural Metro. Her main concern was that her students achieve their full potential and take advantage of all opportunities. She had a special love for her family. Mearle was an avid traveler, with many trips around the U.S. and other countries. She enjoyed her collection of albums, one for each of her trips.
Survivors are daughter Laurie Green and grandson Sean Green, both of Santa Fe, NM, granddaughter Terri (Preston Sawyers), great-grandchildren Amanda, Preston Jr. and Jackson Sawyers, all of Highlands Ranch, CO.
