Merle Griffee, 88, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013 in Harlingen TX.
Prior to his move to Texas last year, he was a long-time resident of Fairbury, Nebraska. He was born in Perry Iowa, on May 17, 1925, to James and Zetta (Dawson) Griffee.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ann, brother Dana and sister Darlene Griffee Nespor.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Merle worked for the Rock Island Railroad for many years. Merle was very clever and talented, and there was very little he could not figure out how to create, fix, or make better with the tools he had or the ones he created. He had a great sense of humor and could tell a funny story at a moment’s notice. Merle enjoyed playing golf and in his later years often talked of his game and that of the other members of the Fairbury County Club’s “Rat Pack”.
He is survived by son James W. Griffee and wife Mildred of Albuquerque NM, son Gary L. Griffee and wife Tammy of Alliance NE, daughter Cathy A. Griffee and husband Don Boyer of Clay Center KS, and son Kenneth J. Griffee of Norfolk NE; grandchildren Jami and Aaron Griffee of Alliance NE, Nathan Boyer of Gardner KS and Ashley Griffee of Fairbury NE, and three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Cash and Noah.
