Meta Sophia Weichel

Meta Weichel, 98 of Fairbury passed away, Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Fairbury.  She was born November 23, 1909, at Plymouth, Nebraska to Henry and Anna Pohlmann Grummert.

She was baptized on December 12, 1909 by Rev. Heckle on her mother's birthday. On April 13, 1924, she was confirmed by Rev. Keckle at Peace Lutheran Church. Her confirmation verse was Psalm 103: 1 & 2. She attended School District #17.  She was united in marriage to Harry Weichel on April 24, 1930 at Peace Lutheran Church at rural Jansen, NE. by Rev. Heckel.  She was  a life member of Peace Lutheran Church, a member of Ladies Aid and Mission Circle.  They lived and farmed near Plymouth until 1952 when they moved to their present home in rural Fairbury.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting and selling eggs. In 2001, she entered the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury.

She is survived by her daughters Lillian Freese and husband Herman of Plymouth, NE, Marian Chaloupka and husband Robert of Lincoln, NE., sons Glen Weichel and wife Marjorie of Beatrice, NE, Orville Weichel of Fairbury, Grandchildren Priscilla Koch, Gloria Hernandez, Rita Horst, Forrest Freese and Aaron Freese, Patricia Prentice, Tereasa Chaloupka, Shera Meyer, Kristine Stone, Karla Salda, Kevin Weichel, Jon Weichel, Robert Weichel and Jennifer Elliott.  Great Grandchildren Thomas Koch, Fredrick Koch, Amber Jones, Justin Hernandez, Tyler Hernandez, Chad Hernandez, Noelle Hernandez, Dana Horst, Wade Horst, Sonya Freese, Shawn Freese, Garrett Freese, Megann Freese, Madison Freese, Ryan Dobler, Darren Dobler, Cristina Prentice, Tracey Prentice, Owan Meyer, Justin Stone, Beau Stone, Tanner Stone, Kaleb Stone, Laci Zimmer, Preston Gronemeyer, Rachael Weichel, Heath Weichel, Bodee Weichel, Ty Weichel, Lauren Weichel, Hannah Elliott, Emma Elliott, Karlie Elliott, Samuel Elliott,  Great Great Grandchildren Kaden Koch, Landen Koch, Taylor Jones, Brody Jones and Reece Stone.  Sister-in-law Dorothy Grummert of Jansen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, sisters Dora, Hulda and Ella, brothers Adolf and Ernest, granddaughter Debra Dobler and a great granddaughter Lynn Koch.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Plymouth, NE, with PMA Maynard Kellerman officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to family's choice.
