Milda Sophie Vorderstrasse

Milda Sophie 'Rehm' Vorderstrasse, age 86, of Fairbury, NE, formerly of Plymouth, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. She was born on August 6, 1920 at rural Plymouth, growing up on the family farm southeast of Ply mouth. She attended parochial school east of Plymouth through the 8th grade. She was married to Carl H. Vorderstrasse on May 16, 1948 at St. Paul's Church east of Plymouth. She lived most of her married life west of Plymouth until they moved to Fairbury in 1990. She loved working in her vegetable garden and tending her flowers. She raised chickens, loved to cook and take care of others. She worked many years as a waitress in Plymouth. She also loved to make quilts and doing crafts. Funeral Services will be Monday, October 9, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Plymouth, NE with P.M.A. Maynard Kellerman officiating. Burial will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Plymouth. Visitation will begin on Friday, October 6 at 5:00 p.m. at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Memorials are preferred to the family's choice. She is survived by: her husband of 58 years, Carl Vorderstrasse; one son, Dennis and wife Nancy Vorderstrasse of Hastings, NE; daughters, Dianne and husband Randy Waldmeier of Belvidere, NE, and Sharon and husband Doug Sellenrick of Plymouth; brothers, Arnold Rehm of Craig, MO, and Alvin Rehm of Beatrice, NE; step-brother Allen Grabowski of Diller, step-sisters Verneal Grummert of Plymouth and Lonna Kisling of Diller, 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frieda Rehm, step-mother Mary Rehm, brother, Richard Rehm, parent-in-law Casper and Louise Vorderstrasse and brother-in-law Herb Vorderstrasse.
