Mildred Louise Niemann was born on July 21,1925 on the family farm near Odell, Nebraska, the daughter of Herman Adam and his wife Caroline (Schramm) Adam. She received her gift of eternal life on Sunday, January 31, 2021 while a resident of Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation. Mildred was 95 years, 6 months, and 10 days old.
Mildred was Baptized into the Christian faith on July 26, 1925 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hanover, by The Rev. William Mahler. Her sponsors were Louise Schramm and Caroline Riggert.
She confessed her Christian faith in the Rite of Confirmation on Palm Sunday, April 2, 1939 at Trinity. Her Confirmation Pastor was Pastor Mahler.
Mildred attended country school at Prairie View District 88 for three years. She then attended Trinity Lutheran School completing the 8 th Grade. After school she stayed at home to help with chores and help raise her brother Harlan and sister Delores.
A young soldier from Trinity had returned home after serving his country in the Army. His name was Frederick Niemann. Fred and Mildred became good friends while attending church, church functions and attending baseball games. Fred and Mildred were married on September 16, 1947 at the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran. Their Pastor was Rev. Theo. Kauffeld.
The two made their home two miles south of the Adam homestead, where they farmed raising dairy cattle, hogs, and chickens. Mildred tended to a large garden and loved growing all kinds of flowers, especially roses. After Fred’s passing, Mildred stayed on the farm for several more years before moving to assisted living.
Mildred served her Lord as a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran and as a member of Trinity's Ladies Aid. She was a member of The Hanover American Legion Auxiliary where she received her 50 year membership pin.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents: Herman and Caroline; by her husband Fred in 1999; by her brother Harlan Adam and by her sister and brother-in-law Delores and Clarence (Mike) Scheele.
She is survived by her sister-in-law: Lorna Adam of Odell; by her many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, and by her many friends.
We give thanks to the Lord for all of His blessings poured out upon Mildred during her life, especially for her gift of eternal life in Heaven that she now enjoys through faith in Christ our Lord.
