Neal H. Roelfs

Neal H. Roelfs, was born July 15, 1958 to Donald and June (Wolken) Roelfs in Fairbury.  Neal grew up on the family farm near Diller and lived his entire life in the Diller area.  He was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Diller.

On June 17 1983, he married Jody Hoffman and to this union, three children were born, Joshua, Emily and Isaac.

Neal was a proud father and loved watching his children grow and attending their activities.  He was extremely excited to find out he was going to become a Grandpa in July.  He enjoyed summer evenings sitting on the patio discussing the day’s events with his wife.  He enjoyed grilling and trying new recipes but always had lunchmeat on standby.  He loved to fish and dabble in gardening, though not always successful, he always had good intentions.

He is survived by his wife Jody, sons Josh (Kalli) Roelfs and Isaac Roelfs, brother Dean (Beth) Roelfs all of Diller, NE and father in law John Hoffman of Steinauer, NE, sisters in law Lori (Mark) VanWinkle, Shelley (Brad) Armstrong and Sandy (Len) Medley, his aunt Darlene (Norm) Balderson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Emily, parents Don and June and his mother-in-law Donna Hoffman.

Services will be Monday, March 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Diller with Pastor Mark Liscom officiating.  The family will greet friends Sunday from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Fairbury.  Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice.  Burial will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery – Diller.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
