Nina Lou Hansen Davis Lungenbeel passed away at Gardenside Care Center peacefully and went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 27, 2018 at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 27 days.

Nina was born on August 30, 1931 in Arlington, NE to her parents, John E. and Ada Bernice ( Bubbles) Hansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth L. Davis, in-laws, Guy 0. and Beulah Davis, daughter Patricia L. Urich, husband James O. Lugenbeel and son-in-laws, Mick McDaniel, Leonard Urich, and Wayne Zoch, 5 brother-in-laws, and 1 sister-in-law. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Raymond Hansen (Nancy), children, Sheryl Beadle (Gilbert), Rene’ Scheer (Dave), Kelly Davis (Sandie), Christopher Davis (Katie), John Davis (Tammi), her step-children, Donna Stansberry (Richard), Jim Lugenbeel (Sharon), Sheri Zoch, and Lori Cary (Jimmy), 31 grandchildren, 55 ½ great grandchildren, and 8 ½ great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Arlington High School and met her first husband, Kenny at the local skating rink.  They were married on June 19, 1948 in Fairbury, NE.  The couple lived in many places including, Fairbury, Fremont, and Beatrice, NE, Cottage Grove, Eugene, and Springfield, OR, finally settling in Diller, NE.   While in Oregon Nina began flying lessons, however she was unable to complete these classes as she became pregnant with her fourth child, Kelly and was unable to properly maneuver the flying equipment in the tight confines of the cockpit.   In January of 1971 Nina’s beloved Kenny passed away.

Nina’s daughter Sheryl introduced her to Jim Lugenbeel who would eventually steal her heart and become her second husband on May 12, 1973 creating a blended family with 10 children.

For many years, Nina worked as a school bus driver and enjoyed working with children.  She was the first woman school bus driver in Diller, NE.  Her love of children lead her to a position at Blue Valley Community Action Head Start program as a teacher aide and a school bus driver.  Her students knew her as Miss Nina.

Nina was a devoted member of the Eagles Auxiliary #3972 where she held numerous officer positions at both the state and local level.  Nina had a passion for music and a beautiful voice.  It was this love of music that led her to serve as the Eagles Auxiliary State Vocalist.  She also enjoyed singing with many local bands.

Nina was always busy and looking for fun.  She enjoyed camping, embroidery, crossword puzzles, reading, writing poems, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.  Family holiday get togethers were especially important to her.  Before each holiday we could always expect a call from her asking each of us who was coming and what we were going to bring.

Nina was a loving daughter, mother, wife, grandmother and friend.  She will always be loved and never forgotten.
