Norma Jean Hansen

Norma Jean Eilts Hansen was born to Jakob and Mildred Elgert Eilts, March 10, 1935 in Fairbury, NE.

Norma was very active in school, especially Glee Club, school paper and yearbook. She graduated in 1953 from Fairbury High School as Valedictorian of her class. Following high school, she went one year to Fairbury Junior College and worked for a local insurance company.

In 1955, she married Frank Pohlmann in Hebron. With that union, three daughters were born, Patricia, Janette and Kristine. She enjoyed being a farm wife and mother.
Norma moved back to Fairbury in 1974 following the death of her husband. She worked at Fairbury State Bank until her retirement. She remarried in 1978 to Wayne Hansen and gained three stepchildren, Dennis, Jim and Nancy. Wayne passed away in 2005.
Norma enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, traveling and playing cards and board games. She and Wayne were active members of the Faith Lutheran Church. They enjoyed traveling, including their trips to Canada, Colorado, Las Vegas and California, where they both were at the “Price is Right” game show. Norma also spent many years dedicated to the “23 Building Restoration” project. Most of all Norma enjoyed being a wonderful mother and grandmother and great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and her grandson, Lowell Vawser.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia and husband Daniel Vawser of Johnston City, IL; Janette and husband Bill Warnke of Fairbury; and Kris and husband Gordon Sherman of Shenandoah, IA. Stepchildren include Dennis Hansen and wife Helen of Grand Junction, CO, Jim Hansen and wife Gayle of Arvada, CO, and Nancy Allebes and husband Brigham of West Cajon Valley, CA. Grandchildren are Katie and husband Bobby Smith of Herrin, IL; Melody and husband Elijah Pennock of Carterville, IL; Justin Warnke and wife Brandi of Fairbury; Alyssa Warnke and fiancé Jon Niemic of Sioux City, IA; Alexandra and husband Tony Binau-Sherman of Shenandoah, IA and Jakob Sherman of Shenandoah, IA. Step-grandchildren are Megan Hansen Casey,Lisa Hansen Clark,Rebecca Hansen;Logan and Kelli Allebes. Great-grandchildren are Josee Warnke and Willow Warnke of Fairbury.

Funeral services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church in Fairbury with the Pastor Kenneth Hart officiating on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery.
