Norma F. Mcdaniel

Norma F. (McMullen) McDaniel was born August 16, 1925, to Walter Derby & Ollie Belle (Metheny) McMullen near Sidney, Iowa.  Norma was the oldest of 8 children.  She entered Heritage Care Center on June 16, 2022.  Norma went home to Jesus with her son & daughter and family members at her side on June 29, 2022, while residing at Heritage Care Center of Fairbury, NE.   She was 96 years, 10 months, and 13 days old.

She was baptized into faith by Rev. Lori Miller in 2017.  Norma & Ralph McDaniel created a union on August 16, 1943, to which 4 children were born.

Norma was a homemaker, seamstress, gardener, laundress, cook and filling station attendant during her working life.  Her most favorite job was to be a laundress at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Fairbury for 8 years, then later for another year.

Norma’s pride and joy was to be a grandmother, to 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren & 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Norma proudly wore the title of Grandma Mac, given to her by 100’s of people.

She is survived  by daughter Barb Drake of Western, NE, son Gary McDaniel (Betty) of York, NE, brother Fred McMullen of Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews and grandchildren great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren.

Norma is preceded in death by infant son, husband Ralph, son Michael (Mick), parents, siblings Don, Dean, Tob, Wes, Lois Widick, son-in-law Doug Drake and great-grandson Lane McDaniel.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 2:00 at the Fairbury Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9 – 11.  Memorials will go to St. Judes or Fairbury Fire Department.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
