Nyla Jean (Cerveny) Keilwitz daughter of Emanuel and Nettie (Bronson) Cerveny was born November 15, 1931 at Reynolds, NE.
She went to school district #26 and graduated from Reynolds High School in 1950. After graduation she continued to work on the farm and at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
Nyla married Harold Keilwitz April 18, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Gilead, NE. To this union 2 girls and 3 boys were born.
She was your typical farm wife, milking cows helping with hogs, the planting and harvest, gardening and canning and cleaning chickens (her children’s usual summer vacation job).
Nyla was a wonderful cook where she perfected her pie making skills. She was an excellent seamstress, mending a shirt or jeans and sewing many dresses for her girls. As her children grew up and left home, she worked different jobs. She worked for the Hebron Greenhouse, Blue Valley Nursing Home, the Box K Vern & Mary Jo Gaston, Pioneer Inn and there was always swathing to do.
After her husband’s passing, she still enjoyed life on the farm – riding her 4-wheeler to check the cows and pivots, helping move machinery for planting and harvest. She began cross stitching quilt blocks to be put together as quilts for her children and grand-children. She loved playing board games and cards and putting puzzles together with her grand-kids.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, friend, a hard worker, and a woman of faith – always saying everything will be alright. She always put others ahead of herself. We will miss her smile and laughter.
She is survived by her daughters Mary Flagle, Linda (Dean) Krueger, sons Jim (Laurie) Keilwitz, Lyle (Karen) Keilwitz, and George (Elizabeth) Keilwitz, grandchildren Jessica Flagle, Erin (Kile) Jackson, Abby (Nick) Grosse-Rhode, Morgan (Trent) Kuhn, Tyler Keilwitz, Levi (Shilo) Keilwitz, Elijah & Isaiah Keilwitz, , great-grandchildren Wyatt and Gavin Grosse-Rhode, Anna & Jaidyn Kuhn, grand-dogs Peanut, Charlie & Scgoovby Doo, sister Shirley Gibson and brother Emanuel Jr. Cerveny and nieces and nephews.
