Nyla V. Stanton of Fairbury was born October 9, 1934 to Lyle and Oma (Sand) Dewey at the family home near Hollenberg, Kansas. She passed away December 26, 2019 at the age of 85 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. Nyla attended her first eight years of education at Plainview School near Hollenberg as the only student in her class. She attended Morrowville High School where she met her husband, Bruce Stanton. They married November 6, 1955. Nyla and Bruce spent their first two years of marriage in Morrowville and Bruce was then stationed in the military at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. Their first son, Rick, was born there, and the family then returned to Morrowville and moved to Fairbury in 1960 where two more children, Sondra and Todd, were born. Nyla was very active in United Methodist Women and was a member of the AO chapter of P.E.O. for over 35 years. In later years, Nyla became interested in antique auctions and adding to her extensive crystal collection. Nyla was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Delbert Dewey; sisters-in-law, Barbara Dewey and Judith Dewey; brothers-in-law, James Nutsch and Robert Stanton; niece, Debra Dewey; and nephew, James Stanton. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bruce; sons, Rick and Todd; daughter, Sondra (David) Weeks; and grandchildren, Lacey, Connor and Sean Weeks; sister, Donna Nutsch; brother, Marvin Dewey; sister-in-law, Alice Stanton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held December 28 at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury, Nebraska.
