Orville E. Weichel

Orville Ernest Weichel, 87, of Fairbury, NE, passed away January 23, 2022, at JCH&L Gardenside.  He was born December 22, 1934, to Harry & Meta (Grummert) Weichel in rural Plymouth, NE. Orville was baptized January 13, 1935, by Rev. A. Heckle and confirmed March 21, 1955, by Rev. Edward Prange.  He was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church, rural Jansen.

He attended School at District #17, Rural Jansen. He made his living as a farmer.  Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting, riding his four-wheeler (fast!), attending gun shows, attending farm auctions and socializing with friends. He also enjoyed entertaining his nieces and nephews when they came to visit Grandma.

Survivors are sisters Lillian Weichel Freese of Plymouth, NE, And Marian Weichel Chaloupka of Lincoln, NE, brother Glen (Marjorie) Weichel of Beatrice, NE and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Herman Freese & Robert Chaloupka.

Services will be Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Plymouth with Pastor Marilyn Haseman officiating.  The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 5 – 7 at the Funeral Home in Fairbury.  Memorials will go to Peace Lutheran Cemetery Fund.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
