Pauline H. Bunkers

Pauline was born March 16, 1933 in Fairbury, NE. She was the 4th daughter born to Frederich and Anna (Goes) Koch. She graduated from Steele City High School with the class of 1951. She married Francis McCord in 1952 and had two children, Robert in 1953 and Susan in 1956.
They divorced in 1971. Pauline married Mike Bunkers in 1985.

While Pauline was in high school she worked part time for Dr. Morgan in Steele City. She went on to teach elementary school at Kesterson Schoolhouse. In her later years she was a volunteer for the Foster Grandparents Program in Tecumseh. She loved working with the special needs students and cherished every card they gave her. Her other occupations included being a nurse aid and sitting with the terminally ill & waitressing. She also managed a storage unit in Casper, WY, and later moved to Hiawatha, KS where she managed a motel.

Pauline was a "people person”. She loved traveling and moving to new locations; she never had trouble making friends wherever she went. Pauline loved gardening and flowers, especially roses and daffodils. Most of all she loved her family. She was blessed with 4 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Anna Koch, her sister Marguerite, sister Frieda Stroemer and brother-in-law DeLoss Stroemer, and brother-in-law Alfred Garrels.

Pauline is survived by her husband, Mike of Fairbury, sister Bernice Garrels of Beatrice, brother-in-law Bill Bunkers of Bend, Oregon, son Bob McCord and wife Mary and daughter Susan Rine and husband Jim all of Fairbury. Grandchildren Brett McCord and wife Leslie of Denver, Colorado, Jeremy Rine and wife Jen of Waverly, Scott Rine and wife Christy of Bellevue and Sarah Lempka and husband Derek of Eagle. Great Grandchildren Maylea and Alexxa McCord, Chloe Beck, Garrett and Caleb Rine, McKinzie, Keegan, Kratyn, and Karter Rine, Adisyn and Drake Lempka.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday July 19, 2013 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury, with Pastor Ken Hart officiating. Memorials to Family's Choice.
