Obituary

Pauline A. Hynek was born June 29, 1930 at Taner Ranch north of Morrowville, KS to Paul and Faye Henderson. Pauline passed away March 25, 2026 at Gardenside LTC in Fairbury, NE.

In 1949, Pauline graduated from Morrowville High School, then attended Fairbury Junior College. She taught at Pursley Rural School for two years. On December 29, 1950 she married Howard Hynek of Hollenburg, KS, who was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. While in Alaska, Howard Mitchell (Mick) was born. After they served their time in Alaska for the Army, they moved to Fairbury, NE and their second son Brad was born. In 1962, they bought a farm south of Endicott and raised their family.

Over the next years she helped on the farm and worked at the hospital in the Dietary Dept. for eleven years. Pauline also worked at Brackle's grocery store, Kellwood and Swingsters, where she worked until her retirement and then enjoyed the farm. Pauline always had a big garden and loved to can what she raised, but the main thing she loved doing was spending time taking in grandkids’ activities. She was very proud of all her grandkids. Then the great grandkids came along, and she enjoyed their activities too. Pauline was a wonderful cook, and no one ever went away hungry from her table. She took pride in lining up dinners for funerals and Lords Acre Days at the Methodist Church, where she was a member, and always appreciated all the people that helped her.

In March of 2023, Pauline moved into Cedarwood where she enjoyed playing cards and visiting with others. In November 2025, she moved to Gardenside and lived there until God called her home.

Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Faye, Husband Howard, daughter-in-law Dawn, great grandson Levi, great grandson-in-law Justin Kunc, brothers Milton and Eldon, sisters Dorothea, Madeline and Barbara.

Pauline is survived by sons Mick and wife Diane of Endicott, Brad of Western, sister Sally and husband Gene of Lincoln, five grandkids and fifteen great grandkids.
