March 29, 1958 — July 8, 2021

Endicott

Randall 'Randy' Gene McAtee of Endicott, NE passed away at Bryan Medical Center East Campus on July 8, 2021 at the age of 63.  Randy was born on March 29, 1958 to Derald and Sharee McAtee in San Antonio, TX where Derald was stationed in the Air Force.  Randy went to grade school in Endicott and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1977.

Randy was married to Ronda Cerveny in 1979 and they had two children, Keicia McAtee Nicholson and Scott McAtee.  Randy joined the Air Force in 1983 and they lived where the Air Force took them, including  Cheyenne, WY and Bicester, England.  When they divorced, Randy was stationed in Grand Forks, ND until he was honorably discharged in 1990.  Randy worked construction for Dobson Brothers for many years and during that time while working in Oklahoma he met the love of his life, Sharon Puckett.  Randy and Sharon lived in many different places wherever the construction projects took them.  Randy retired due to health issues and he and Sharon moved into Randy's childhood home together after his parents passed away.  They enjoyed several good years in Endicott together where Randy loved to ride around town on his golf cart with his beloved dog Ringo.  He enjoyed mowing many places in town and whatever other projects his family had for him, whether it was running errands for Mitch or tending the fire at the OK Mattress Factory.  Randy was in charge of the wood burning stove and he loved to keep it warm for them.  Randy was also a huge fan of Husker football, Royals baseball, and NASCAR.

The past few years, Randy struggled with health issues and he was in and out of the hospital many times.  He took multiple trips in the StarCare helicopter to Lincoln, but he always fought hard and was able to return home to ride around town after just a couple days in the hospital.  He called it "getting a tune up."  Randy's last trip in the helicopter was early Monday morning, July 5 after spending the Fourth of July with his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife Sharon McAtee of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter Keicia (Eric) Nicholson; son Scott (Amber) McAtee; granddaughters Traislynn (Cody), Hailie, Kenzie and Kaia; great grandsons Carson and Atticus; stepdaughters Charla (Wade) Anderegg, Starla (Jerry) Griego; stepson Jeremiah Holt; and grandsons Blake, Bryce, Brandon and Jayce; siblings Chris (Steve) Zabokrtsky, Dennis (Suzy) McAtee, Tami (Bruce) Finke, Mitch (Cheryll) McAtee, Angie (Ric) Johnson, Linda (Jeff) Harris, along with many nieces and nephews; sister in law Donna McIntosh; brothers-in-law Marv and Wayne Earlywine; and countless other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Nick McAtee, and his dog Ringo.

Memorials may be given to Jefferson County Ambulance District #33 and/or Jefferson Community Health and Life Emergency Room in Fairbury.
