Reis Matthew Blobaum

April 23, 2006 — September 1, 2024

Reis Matthew Blobaum was born on April 23, 2006, in Lincoln, Nebraska.  His early years were spent in Bennet, Nebraska where he soon learned that, if he was persistent, he would be allowed to stay up and watch cartoons well after his bedtime.  He loved playing with his brother Ashton under the front porch and getting as dirty as possible.

In August of 2010, his family moved to the Victor Blobaum family farmhouse near Fairbury, Nebraska.  Reis attended the Preschool learning center and, after graduating preschool, went on to attend Fairbury Public Schools.  He enjoyed being involved in Skills, FFA, and hanging out with his friends.  He graduated High School in December 2023.  In April of 2024 he took a job at Goebel Construction where he worked with his brother Ashton.

Reis loved to fish where he once caught over 30 bullheads in a 2-hour period for a local fishing tournament with his grandpa Ralph, as well as catching a 5lb bass to show everyone at a husker game party at the farm.  He shared his love for fishing with his brother Rhegan and was there to help him catch his first fish.  Reis got into deer hunting last season with his grandpa Brian, where they shared a hunting blind.  Although he didn’t come away with a buck, he mentioned really enjoyed the experience and was talking about getting the big one next time.

Reis spent time with his brother Ashton, working on car & truck repairs, wrestling with his brother Rhegan and butting heads with his sister Alexis.  Reis enjoyed playing games of chess and poker on his phone, as well as playing pool with his friends and family.

Reis enjoyed watching sports with his Mom & Dad, specifically anything Husker related.  He was always excited for the trips to see the Lincoln Stars Hockey team with his parents and Alexis, as well as watching the Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey team on TV with his dad.

Reis had close relationships with his cousins Peyton (where they would often meet up to fish, golf, & play pool), Zak (to brag and show off his gun and fishing gear collection), and Carter (working on finishing Grandpa Brian’s garage while Grandma Carol spoiled the boys with food).

Reis was famous for the phrases “what’s for lunch” and “what’s for supper”.  He was a big eater from the beginning and loved going out to eat spicy wings at Harbine, Rare steaks at Plymouth, and burritos anywhere he could get his hand on one.  He was always up for going to the annual Saline Center sale, where he would try to eat as many hotdogs as possible.  He would say “if I eat ten, then I’m pretty sure I get the 11th free”.

Reis liked to use his sarcastic humor to get “a rise” out of his friends and family, never taking anything too seriously.  Reis was known to stop by unannounced at his grandparents and Uncles’ houses to share his humor.  He made sure to make himself at home, consume any milk available, and to turn each grandma’s beer can tab over the opening to be annoying and lovable at the same time.

Reis is survived by his parents, Michael & Michelle Blobaum, Siblings Ashton, Alexis, and Rhegan, Grandparents Brian & Carol Blobaum and Ralph & Jan Baxa.

Uncles/Aunts:  Mark & Nicki Blobaum, Andrea & Randy Reed, Matt Blobaum & Jen Mau, Matt Baxa & Brittany Moldenhauer.

Cousins:  Carter, Maddie, Lexi, Zak, Peyton, Marshall, Tyce, Noah, Camden, Amira & Gracie.

And too many close friends to mention.
