Richard Lierman

Richard “Richie” Lierman, age 51, passed away at Jefferson Community Health & Life on January 22, 2021.  He was born December 28, 1969 to James Lierman & LaVera “TJ” Schiermeyer.  He graduated from Fairbury High School in 1988 after being very successful in track and football and participated in basketball where he enjoyed eating popcorn on the bench.  He continued his education and football career at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

He was united in marriage on July 10, 1998, to Deanna Hermsmeier.  From this union came daughters Mikasa, Mikwena and Mikya.  Richie worked for various Fairbury businesses including Barber’s Furniture, Chappell Roofing, State of Nebraska-Department of Roads, and most recently at Hull Concrete.   Richie’s passions included his family, being especially proud of his daughter’s accomplishments, playing on both slow and fast pitch softball teams, coaching, golfing, volleyball, making his numerous pizza creations, homemade pickles, and entertaining his many friends with his wit.  He enjoyed attending Royals games, going to Lake of the Ozarks, and spending family time in Texas, Colorado, and Florida.  Richie was always willing to lend a hand in his community and help anyone in need.  Richie had several sayings and words of wisdom that his friends and family will continue to tell stories about.

Richard was a loving father, husband, son, uncle, co-worker, mentor, and friend.  He will be greatly missed!  Rich was preceded in death by his father, James Lierman, brother Rodney Lierman, and stepfather Ron Siemers.  Survivors include wife Deanna, daughters Mikasa, Mikwena, Mikya, mother TJ and Stan Schiermeyer, sister Rhonda (Jon) Novotny, step-siblings Steve (Rhonda) Schiermeyer, Jamie (Michelle) Schiermeyer, sister-in-law Joanna (Ron) Prelvitz, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Presbyterian Church, followed by a lunch at the Fairbury VFW. Due to COVID, seating is limited and masks are required at all places.  Viewing will be all day Wednesday at the Funeral Home.  The service will be Live Streamed at the VFW. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
