Richard Charles Schwan

Richard Charles Schwan was born December 21, 1931, at Daykin, Neb. He was the son of Wilhelm K. and Erna L. Henk Schwan. He died March 27, 2016, at the age of 84 years,3 months and 6 days.

He was baptized on January 31, 1932 and was confirmed as an adult June 25, 1944, at the Immanuel Luthern Church near Daykin.

Richard graduated from Daykin High School May 1949. He married Marjorie Jean Houser on Feb 5, 1952 and they were married for 47 years until her passing.

On June 12, 2002, he and Hilde Schoenrock-Bennett were married in Plymouth, Neb. They were married for 13 years and 9 mos.

Richards hobbies were woodworking, hunting, fishing, RV traveling, and going to Casinos.

He went into the US Air Force on Sept. 26, 1951. During the 29 years he was in the Air Force, he was stationed at various places such as Guam, Okinawa, Germany and Goose Bay, Labrador. He spent 1 year in Vietnam.

Richard was preceded in death by his Parents, wife Marjorie and grandson Jeffery Schwan, brother Bill and sisters Marlene Kirchoff, Leona Buell,
Martha Taylor and Ruth Wahl.

Survivors include: wife Hilde, son, Daniel (Marsha) of Fairbury, daughter Debbie Fuller (Pat), daughter Dee Schwan both of Fort Worth, TX, and daughter Darla Schwan of Bellevue, step son Corbin Bennett of Omaha;
5 grandchildren: Jaime (Kyle) Kubik of Lincoln, NE, Brent Schwan of Wellington, KS, Colby (Lindsey) Schwan of Staplehurst, NE, Bryan
(Maggie) Therrien of Ft Worth, TX, Stuart (Cera) Therrien of Dallas, TX; 4 great grand-children, Hailey & Gavin Kubik and Katie & Emily Therrien; sister-in-laws Eleanor Schwan of DeWitt, NE & Phyllis Jordening of Fairbury, NE & brother-in-law Charles (Kathy) Houser JR,of Daykin, NE and numerous nephews & nieces.

Services are March 31, 2016 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury at 10:30am with Pastor Bill Jardine officiating. Pallbearers are Brent Schwan, Colby Schwan, Bryan Therrien, Stuart Therrien, Kyle Kubik, and Mark Houser. Burial in Eureka Cemetery, Daykin. Honorary pallbearers are Jaime Kubik, Hailey Kubik, Gavin Kubik, Katie Therrien, & Emily Therrien.
