Risê Ann Hansmire

January 16, 1952 — September 20, 2025

Risê Ann Hansmire, 73, passed away on September 20, 2025, at Gardenside Nursing Home following a battle with cancer. She was born in Fairbury on January 16, 1952, to Dale and Dixie (Reid) Hansmire.

Risê graduated from Fairbury High School in 1970 and attended Fairbury Junior College. She worked in banking in Fairbury and Lincoln, before moving to Detroit, Michigan, to work in sales and marketing. She returned to Fairbury in 2004 and retired from Lambert Vet Supply as a sales representative.

Risê  was drum majorette in high school, a member of the Happy Rock 4-H club, and loved showing cattle at the fair. Risê enjoyed visiting the “family farm” to oversee her great-nieces prepare for the Jefferson County Fair. You could find Risê in the beef barn on show day to offer advice and words of wisdom. She was an avid Husker football and volleyball fan and loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Risê was extremely proud of the fact that her brother Greg kept the family farm together after their father passed away at an early age in 1976. She was even more proud of the fact that her one and only nephew Michael continues that tradition working side-by-side with Greg in the farm and livestock business. The next generation of Michael’s daughters are now active in the cattle operation.

Risê is survived by brother Greg (Teresa) Hansmire; nephew Michael (Bethany) Hansmire; and niece Megan (Robert) Johnson of Maryville, Missouri. She also leaves behind her beloved Aunt Dorothy Reid, Uncle Finis (Linda) Reid of Hubbell, great-nieces Molly, Morgan, and Macy Hansmire, great-nephew Marshall (Eryn) Johnson and great-niece Maya Johnson. Risê was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Arthur and Lucy Hansmire and Wilbur and Iva Reid. Burial will be held at a later date.
