Robert E. Burkley

Robert E. "Bob" Burkley 87 of Fairbury, NE., passed away July 17, 2010 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. He was born the son of Dr. Howard William & Charlotte (Grace) Burkley on August 24, 1922 in Newcastle, Pennsylvania. He was a WW II Army Air Force Veteran. Bob worked for General Motors for 12 years. Started as a banker at the DeWitt State Bank in 1946 and retired from the First National Bank in 2003 as the Chairman of the board.

Survivors are Daughter: Barbara Ann Pfaff & Husband Vernon R. of Fairbury, Daughter-in-law: Maria Burkley of Fairbury, Grandchildren: Teresa Nicole "Tina" Pfaff of Lancaster, SC., Tiffany K. Sherwood & Husband Logan of Fairbury, Allison Marie Burkley of Fairbury, Emily Alexandra Burkley of Fairbury, Sister: Marilyn Sites of Indianapolis, IN., Sister-in-law: Frieda Burkley of Speadway, IN., Numerous Nieces & Nephews, Friend of the Family Alberta Smith of Fairbury. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Wauneta, son Daniel R. Burkley, brothers Howard, Lloyd, Paul, & Donald Burkley.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury. The family will greet friends on Thursday, July 22 at the Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial at the Fairbury Cemetery - Fairbury, NE. Memorials to the Family's Choice.
