Robert Henry Weers, 87, passed away on August 26th, 2025 at Gardenside Long-Term Care in Fairbury. He was born on October 22,1937 in rural Diller Nebraska. He was baptized, confirmed, and a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Diller Nebraska. He attended rural grade school and graduated from Diller Public School in 1955. Robert was in the National Guard Army Division from 1960 to 1966 where he was a sergeant and an expert marksman. He married Angeline “Angie” Joyce Frerichs on April 18, 1965. To this union two sons, Brian and Darin, were born. Just after high school he farmed with his dad, Martin Weers, and brother, Ronald Weers. Other jobs consisted of being on a custom combining crew, hauling seed corn for Barr Grain in Aurora, and a winter job with Alfred DeBoer at International Harvester in Chicago. Robert and Angie enjoyed owning a pasture with Alfred and Judy DeBoer. Each owned their own cow/calf pairs. Later, he joined Roger Kisling, Dale Schroeder, and other shareholders and started Red Apple Pork in Plymouth. As time went on, he gained two-thirds interest in the 650 sow unit with his sons. After retiring from the hog business, he had a stint of trucking with his sons. He continued to farm alongside Brian and Darin, running grain cart up until 5 years ago. In reality, Robert never retired from farming.
Robert is survived by son, Brian and wife Kendra Kay of Diller, Granddaughters, Brianna Weers and fiance Lyndon Salts of Lincoln, Joely Weers of Diller. Son, Darin and wife Kendra of Diller, Granddaughter, Neleigh (Weers) Petersen and husband Dalton of Endicott, Grandson, Esdon Weers and fiance Ava Krahulik of Diller, Granddaughter, Myleigh Weers of Diller.
Brother, Ronald Weers and wife Leola of Diller, Sister, Norma Banahan of Steele City. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death, wife, Angie, parents, Martin and Clara Weers, parents-in-law, Reinhard and Grace Frerichs, sister, Laura Mae Grone, brother-in-law, Eldean Banahan, in-laws, Sylvester and Bernice (Frerichs)Ullman, Dale and Dorothy (Frerichs) Schroeder, nephews, Dennis Blackwood, Tony Ullman, Jeanette Banahan, best friends, Alfred and Judy Deboer. Numerous aunts and uncles.
