Roger Kendall

Roger L. Kendall, age 69, of Reynolds, NE, died Monday, August 28, 2006 near Gilead, NE. Services will be September 2, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gilead with Pastor Joan Herbon officiating. Music will be provided by Mary Flagle. Burial of ashes will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gilead. Honorary Pallbearers will be Len Prellwitz, Paul Kuhlman, Otis Hellbusch, Kirk Willoughby, Verlin Welch, and Elmer Harms. Those that wish may sign the guestbook at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Thursday and Friday. Memorials are preferred to the family’s choice.
Roger Lee Kendall was born in Fairbury, NE on May 23, 1937 to Bob and Leona (Paul) Kendall. He was baptized June 1, 1937 in Cub Creek Church near Jansen, NE. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of Harbine by the Rev. Schmidt. He attended parochial school and Diller and Plymouth High Schools.
Roger farmed in the Harbine and Reynolds areas. He also worked for the Reynolds Elevator and Foote’s Service in Chester. On June 9, 1957 he was united in marriage to Dawn Hellbusch by the Rev. Edward Hiller a St. Paul’s near Gilead. He was a long time member of St. Paul’s near Gilead and belonged to the Brotherhood there. Roger enjoyed card playing, coffee drinking with friends, and taking day trips with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn; son, Robert and his wife Patty of Reynolds; daughter, Krystal and husband Pat Barr of Olathe, KS; brother, Roy Kendall and wife Cindy of Plymouth; sister, Betty and husband Duane Lytle of Fargo, OK; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and 3 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger, and two brothers, Larry and Leland.
