Roger Dale Roskilly was born Dec. 14, 1947 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was the oldest of 6 children of Virginia & Joseph Roskilly.
He attended grade school in Kentucky & Germany, & jr. high & high school in Maryland. In 1966 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the Philippines, Viet Nam, & Clovis, New Mexico. He was honorably discharged in June of 1978.
In 1969 he married Sarah Ann Ferricks. Together they had 3 children: Timothy, Chad, & Michelle. He had 2 granddaughters Kristin & Carleigh Noll & one great grandson Aiden.
In 1994 he married Jayne Marie Poppe. They were blessed with one son Ronald.
He worked various jobs after leaving the Air Force, the last job being a service writer at Wells Implement in Plymouth, Ne.
He was a 40-year member of the American Legion. Roger held every office before becoming the Commander of Post 23 from 1989–1990 in Aurora, Colorado.
He liked to go fishing and collect toy cars & airplanes. In his younger days his hobbies were: bowling, darts, & playing pool. He enjoyed watching the Broncos, the Royals, & of course the Huskers.
Roger liked to joke around & play pranks on people, therefore earning the nickname “TROUBLE.”
He is survived by his children & grandchildren & wife Jayne; 3 sisters Kay, Sue, & Maryann, & 2 brothers Joe & Brian, Aunts, Uncles, friends, & numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 20 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury. Family will greet friends on Tuesday morning at the church from 9-11 am. Interment will follow the luncheon at Steele City Cemetery with Military Honors. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
