Roma Ruth Jarchow-Stewart

Roma Ruth (Jarchow) Stewart was born to Henry and Marie (Warnke) Jarchow on January 25 ^th , 1922, and passed away on April 15 ^th , 2022, in Fairbury, NE.  She was baptized Feb. 26th, 1922, and confirmed on June 21st 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Daykin, NE. She graduated from Daykin High School and on March 15 ^th , 1942, Roma married Lloyd Stewart at the Immanuel Church Daykin, NE.  They made their home North of Fairbury & then moved to their family home one half mile south of Western. To this union four children were born.

Roma worked alongside Lloyd on the farm and also for many years at Velma’s Café in Western.  In 1969 Lloyd and Roma moved to town.  Roma enjoyed making quilts, silk flowers for special occasions, needle work, gardening, canning and she made the best bread & butter pickles.  Roma also bowled for many years.  Lloyd & Roma enjoyed traveling, listening to Blue Grass music, dancing, and going to Husker football games.  Roma had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing.

Lloyd passed in October of 1976.  On August 10 ^th , 1984. Roma married Albert Heitzenrader at the Methodist church in Western.  Al passed in 2007. In 2009 Roma moved to Cedarwood Assisted Living in Fairbury, NE, then in 2012 was moved to JCH & L Gardenside Nursing Home in Fairbury.

She is survived by son James (Judy) Stewart, daughters Loydeen (Gerald) Stengel, Deborah Gennette, son-in-law Melvin Kotas, sister-in-law Dorothy Stewart, 12 grandchildren Rick (Janell) Stengel, Jodi (Kevin) Scheef, Geriann (John) Rada, Corey (Brenda) Stengel, Kris (Jenni) Stengel, Jeff (Holly) Stewart, Jason (Jill) Stewart, Michelle (Gary) Baxa, Amy (Randy) Rezny, Eric (Jana) Gennette, Jill Taylor, Keri (Mike) Vanderhoef, 36 Great-grandkids, 10 great-great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by husbands Lloyd Stewart & Albert Heitzenrader, parents Henry & Marie Jarchow, daughter Barbara Kotas, sister Alice (Milton) Brott, and brother Robert (Patricia) Jarchow.

Services will be Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury, with Darlene Novotny officiating. Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice.  Burial in Plainview Cemetery – Western, NE.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
