Roscoe C. Beachler was born to Ira and LaRue Beachler on a farm near Reynolds, NE on February 22, 1932 and passed away April 14, 2021. He was the youngest of two boys.
Roscoe graduated from Reynolds High School in 1949. After graduation, he stayed on the family farm until 1952 when he joined the Navy. After Basic Training he went to Guam and was company clerk for the Supply Squadron. While on Guam he made the company fast pitch softball and basketball teams and played all over the pacific in tournaments, including Japan. After 18 months in Guam, he came home to get married to Marcella Kubes. From there the two went to California where they lived until they were to sent to Maryland for 3 months for Roscoe to get discharged.
They moved back to Reynolds on a dairy farm and started a family. They spent a couple of years in Trenton NE, then Hastings, NE, where they spent a couple of more years until he took the job as elevator manager in Mahaska, Kansas. From there the family moved to Fairbury in 1971, where Roscoe and Marcella took over Franks Drive-in Liquor Store. In 1986 they sold the store and from there Roscoe worked at Endicott Clay until he was hired as Jefferson County Weed Agent, until he retired in 1998.
In Roscoes’ life he enjoyed hunting pheasant & quail every weekend he could go, and then he learned the game of golf at the age of 32 and spent a lot of time on golf courses until he gave it up in 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ira & LaRue and his oldest son Terry Lee Beachler.
He is survived by his wife Marcella, son Michael (Rita) Beachler, daughter Lori (Quince) Michl, grandchildren Dustin (Shelly) Beachler, Colby (Kayla) Beachler, Kylon (Anna) Fett and Caitlin (Rob) Wiedel and great-grandchildren Brylee, Craig and Madison Wiedel and Connor, Emma, Morgan & Austin Beachler.
Services will be Monday April 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury. The family will greet friends Sunday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Masks are required.
