Rose Marie Dvorak

March 2, 1933 — May 24, 2012

Rose Marie, daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Vetrovsky) Mencl was born on March 2, 1933 on the family farm, near Virginia Nebraska. She was the oldest of seven children. Rose Marie went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Southlake Village in Lincoln, Neb., surrounded by her loving family.

Rose Marie attended elementary and high school classes at the Virginia public school. She was a member of the graduating class of 1950, at the ripe age of 17. Rose Marie met the love of her life, Loren Amos Dvorak, at a local dance; they later married at the Christian Church in Virginia on February 3, 1951. With this union four daughters were born.

Loren and Rose Marie had a very social and active life. They enjoyed raising a family, going to dances and spending time with their friends. Some of their favorite past times were playing cards, taking trips, going to bingo, and going out to lunch.

Loren and Rose Marie farmed in the Liberty, Diller and Odell areas for 51 years. They were also owners of Dvorak Seeds Inc. Rose Marie remained living on the Dvorak family farm, after her husband passed on May 1, 2002.

Rose Marie loved spending time with her beloved family and friends. She was a member of the Odell United Methodist Church and was active with the United Methodist Women’s group for many years. Rose Marie also enjoyed volunteering as well. She especially enjoyed volunteering at the Diller-Odell Elementary school aiding the children with their reading. She enjoyed working outside on her lawn and gardens. Rose Marie loved to watch her flowers bloom. Roses were her favorite. Rose Marie’s dog, Sweetie, and the cats also had a special place in her heart. She will be greatly missed.

Rose Marie is survived by her three daughters, Shirley Bohling and husband Gene, of Lincoln; Loreene Stein and husband Roger of Odell; Joann Scheele and husband Sam of Odell. Seven grandchildren, Brian Bohling and wife Heather; Michael Bohling and wife Katie; Jessica Wetter and husband Scott; Nicole Bentzinger and husband Corey; William (BJ) Stein and wife Shannon; Kristin Scheele and Kolin Scheele. Eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alex, Madison, McKenzie, Olivia and Brooklynn Bohling, Peyton Wetter and Carson Bentzinger. Three brothers, Elmer Mencl and wife Edith of Beatrice; Richard Mencl and wife Lois of Marshall, MO; Robert Mencl and wife Ruth of Ottawa, IL. Two sisters Mary Steiner of Aurora, CO and Lillie Jensen and husband Gary of Des Moines, IA and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Cousins and friends.

Preceded by: parents Joseph and Agnes Mencl, parent-in-laws Amos and Frances Dvorak, baby daughter Dvorak, brother George, husband Loren Dvorak and brother-in-law Loren Steiner. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Odell. Memorials are to the United Methodist Church or Family's Choice. Viewing will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, with the family greeting friends from 6:00 - 7:30 on Monday.
