Rose Portwood

Rose Portwood, age 109, of Fairbury, died November 2, 2011 at Gardenside Long Term Care in Fairbury. She was born March 5, 1902 at Morrowville, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Magdalena Hellman Koch. Rose was listed at the second oldest Nebraskan.

Survivors include grandsons Chuck Bauer and wife Carol of Fairbury, Kem Portwood and wife Dawn of Beatrice; great grandchildren Dr. Holly Portwood of Hastings, Zach Portwood of Lincoln, Greg Bauer of Fairbury, and Stacie Post of Beatrice; great great grandchild Kynli Portwood of Lincoln and daughter-in-law Dorothy Portwood of Beatrice.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury with Pastor Warren Schoming officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Cremation has taken place. Memorials to family's choice.
