Roy D. Kendall, 63 years of age, of Plymouth died May 30, after a courageous battle with cancer. He died in his home surrounded by family. He was born on May 24, 1950, to Robert and Leona Kendall in Beatrice, Nebraska.
He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church near Harbine, Nebraska. He also attended the parochial school there until eighth grade. Roy graduated from Diller High School in 1968. He married Cindy Krantz on August 16, 1969.
He enjoyed farming his entire life and operated a dairy farm for 30 years. He was also employed by Beatrice 77 Livestock, Farmers Co-op in Jansen and often milked for neighboring dairies. He was a hard working, sincere man that was proud of his family and the family farm. He loved to share a joke with friends and family and had a positive attitude. He possessed a strong faith that sustained him to the end of this life.
During his life he was a member and served Mid America Dairy Farmers, Holstein Association, DHIA, Farm Bureau, Farmers Union, Lutheran Brotherhood. He also actively served on a variety of committees and held officer positions in his churches.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cindy; daughter, Christina Lyons and husband Dave of Beatrice, Nebraska; sons, Larry Kendall and significant other Chesa Henkel of Clatonia, Nebraska and Michael Kendall and significant other Tiffanie Shaw of Reynolds, Nebraska. Grandchildren, Elyse and Lucas Lyons of Beatrice, Nebraska, Courtney Kendall, Emmitt and Eastin Henkel of Clatonia, Nebraska and Nicholas Kendall of Belleville, Kansas. Sister, Betty Lytle and husband Duane of Fargo, Oklahoma. Sister-in-law, Dawn Kendall of Reynolds, Nebraska. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Leland, Larry and Roger. Brother-in-law; Michael Krantz.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury, Nebraska on Tuesday, June 4th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Stan Ostgren officiating. Interment will be in the Cub Creek Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gerdes Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury with family and friend prayer service at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3rd. A memorial has been established to Jefferson and Gage County 4-H, Trinity Lutheran Church in Jansen and the Jefferson County Relay for Life
