Roy D Wolter

June 16, 1934 — September 11, 2015

Roy Delmar Wolter, son of Henry H. Wolter and his wife, Emma Catherine nee’ Drewes, was born in Jansen, NE on June 16, 1934. On July 8 of that year, he was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jansen by Pastor Wilkens, and on October 3, 1948, he was confirmed at Trinity Church in Jansen by Pastor Leroy Vogel. Roy’s confirmation verse was Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.”

Roy attended school in Jansen through the 10th grade, where he enjoyed playing basketball. He then attended Fairbury High School and graduated in 1952. After graduating, Roy worked in various factories and did construction work. He also ran heavy equipment for a number of years. On November 29, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kapke. He retired in 1986, due to arthritis. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed watching various sports, especially baseball and basketball.

Roy was a faithful member of St. Paul’s. He regularly attended worship services until the last few years, when due to failing health, he resided at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Beatrice. There he listened to our worship service broadcasts and received the Lord’s Supper privately for the assurance of the forgiveness of all his sins.

The Lord called him out of this life to life eternal this past Friday at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 25 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma Wolter; two brothers, Elson and Donald Wolter; and his former wife, Sharon Kapke.

He leaves to mourn his passing: one daughter, Doraine Fitzgerald of Omaha; granddaughters Katie Phillips of Beatrice, NE, Tammy (Brett) Edwards of Bunnlevel, NC, four great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Arlene Wolter of Columbus, NE; a nephew, Jon Wolter of Connecticut; a niece, Sandra Keefover of Columbus, NE; one great niece and one great nephew; one great-great niece of Columbus; and other cousins, relatives, and friends.

The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, may the name of the Lord be praised.

Services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plymouth, NE with Pastor Fred Berger officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery with memorials established to the church. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
