Sandra J. Cumro, 84, passed away June 5, 2026, at Good Samaritan in Beatrice, Nebraska. Visitation will take place at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 3-6 P.M., with a Rosary Service beginning at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Wednesday, June 10 at 10:30 A.M., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Odell, led by Father Loras Grell. Interment will follow in the Odell Czech Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to family, in order to be designated later.

She was born to Richard and Wilma (Rehwaldt) Kruger on August 9, 1941, in Odell, Nebraska. Sandra graduated from Odell High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Louis Cumro on October 25, 1958. To this union three daughters were born, Kim, Kay and Kris. Aside from being a mother and wife, Sandy also helped Louie in his veterinary practice. Sandy also started her own business raising dogs and named her business Indian Creek Kennels. Together Sandy and Louie loved showing and hunting their coon dogs and traveled to many competitions in various states. Sandy spent many hours canning and freezing foods from their own garden. Sandy was an avid supporter of her three daughters' activities and carried that on through life supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sandy especially enjoyed her dogs and cats, many that were strays and lucky enough to find their way to her front door.

She is survived by her three daughters Kimberly (James) Franzen of Plymouth, Kay (Daylon) Theye of Odell, and Kristine (Kenneth) Cook of Washington, Kansas; 10 grandchildren DVM’s Shauna and Brian Davis, Joshua Malchow, Amanda (Brandon) Noordhoek, Kasey (Trevor) Murphy, Jamie (Chris) Schluter, Kelly (Kurt) Burken, Jordie Theye and Korey Theye, Adam Rohr and Kylie Rohr; 24 great grandchildren Andie Koch, Taylor Koch, Nicole Arnold, Colton, Case, Kinsley, Kodie and Corbin Davis, Aubrey Sluka (fiance Trevor Fehlhafer) and Emery Sluka, Dre Garrison, Sean Gibson and Kenady Noordhoek, Cash, Tenlee, Anni Kay and Crew Murphy, Ty, Atley and Ainsley Schluter, Rye and Ora Burken, Bowdie Roelfs and Hudsyn Rohr, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sandra is preceded in death by her husband Louis; parents; sister Carol Goettler; son-in-law Dennis Malchow; granddaughter Brooke Koch; brothers-in-law Adolph, William, Martin, Dennis and Maurice Cumro; sister-in-law Catherine Nutsch and in-laws William and Margaret Cumro.
