Scott A. Roker

December 4, 1973 — June 16, 2015

Scott Alan Roker was born on December 4, 1973 to Henry and Susan (Craig) Roker in Fairbury, Nebraska. He died on June 16, 2015 at Endicott in a work related accident at the age of 41 years, 6 months and 12 days.

Scott was baptized at First Baptist Church in Fairbury. He attended Fairbury Public Elementary School, and the Christian School in Beatrice, and completed his high school coursework in 1992, being taught by his parents through their Son Light Hill home school program.

He was employed by Ray’s Supermarket working with the dairy products, a clerk at Maatsch’s Food Shop, Agrium where he worked making micronutrient fertilizer, and most recently in the maintenance department at Endicott Clay.

To many Scott may have seemed to be quiet but he had many interests and hobbies that included his love of family, athletics, and the arts. Through working on the family farm and driving tractor in the fields, Scott became a loyal Kansas City Royals fan. He also enjoyed his season tickets to the Husker Women’s Basketball game, as well as watching Husker football and other sports. Scott was an avid bicyclist, enjoying riding all around the area, and even during the winter. He often set goals and was driven to carry them out. He was so dedicated to bicycling that he went through the summer and most of the winter months riding only his bicycle, and not driving his vehicle. He also enjoyed the opportunity to travel and see new places by competing in various running events, including the Warrior Dash and Mud Runs in Kansas City, Iowa, and around the Midwest. Another example of being driven to a goal was his years planning and two years building his home, along with his dad and the little help of his family and friends. Scott was fascinated by weather, watching our Nebraska storms, and delving into all the statistics related to our ever changing Nebraska weather. Collecting, listening to, and watching movies and music were another favorite past-time. Most importantly, Scott enjoyed his family and playing with his six nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Roker, and grand-parents, Alvin and Mildred Craig, and Clarence and Dorothy Roker.
He is survived by his father, Henry and Lois Roker of Fairbury; brothers, Stave and Sarah Roker of Lincoln, Nebraska, Peter and Mary Roker of Bolivar, Missouri, and sister, Rebecca Roker of Lincoln, step-sister Melissa Marschall and husband Jay of Caledonia, MN, nephews Benjamin, Jackson, and Lucas Roker of Bolivar, and Peyton, Camdon, and Jadon Roker of Lincoln, Aaron, Alex, Andrew, Alijah and Ayden Marschall of Caledonia, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Fairbury on June 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Mike McDonald officiating. Jenny Rempel accompanied the congregation in the singing of “O Come All Ye Faithful”, and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”. Special music was provided by J’Nan Ensz who sang, “Amazing Grace”. Pallbearers were Andrew Craig, Brian Craig, Kevin Blobaum, Dan Engelman, Chris Bailey and Jeff Engelman. Burial will be in Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials will go to Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
