Sharon K. Lichty Lugenbeel was born on May 14, 1958 in Fremont, Nebraska and departed her life on February 19, 2019 at Thayer County Health Services Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska. She was born to Floyd E. (Red) Lichty and Twila (Dolly) McMahan Lichty. Sharon grew up in Fairbury for a few years, but mainly in Steele City where she attended school from Kindergarten thru 8 th grade. She then finished high school at the Fairbury Sr. High School.
On February 11, 1978 she was united in marriage to James A. Lugenbeel. To this union there were 3 daughters, Lynn Marie, Bobbi Jo and Terri Lee, and 1 son Jesse Aaron. She loved her children very much and would do anything for them.
Sharon enjoyed time with her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She also enjoyed going to garage sales, the casino, camping, getting her nails done, a love for Christmas music and finding honey-do jobs. Her family would often request her homemade noodles and dumplings. There was never a doctor appointment that she wouldn’t give her doctor and nurses a bad time or anyone. Over the past year she became the owner to her dog Bambi who she spoiled very much. Sharon was a hard worker no matter where she worked over the years. Her latest were Blue Valley Lutheran Care Home for 23 years, followed by the Fairbury Public Schools until she had her stroke on Thanksgiving, November 23, 2017. She would enjoy going to school to eat Macho Nachos with her granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Floyd & Lois Lichty, Calvin & Bessie McMahan, parents Floyd & Twila Lichty, brother Kenny Lichty, mother & father-in-law James O. & Nina Lugenbeel, Winfred (Jean) Lugenbeel, sister-in-law Patricia Urich, brothers-in-law Mick McDaniel & Wayne Zoch.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bambi her dog, her children Lynn M. Lugenbeel & fiancé Steve Stout of Fairbury, Bobbi J. Ortgies of Fairbury & significant other Brandon Myers of Miltonvale, KS, Terri L. Roelfs & husband William of Fairbury, Jesse A. Lugenbeel and significant other Heather Bramhall of Fairbury, stepson, Lonnie L. Kolar of Fairbury, grandchildren Chelsi Parker & fiancé Alfred Davis, Joshua Ortgies, Destanie Quiring, Kevin Quiring Jr., Garrett Roelfs, Cassidy Roelfs, KaLee Ortgies, Paisley Lugenbeel, Addie Ortgies all of Fairbury and Triton Myers of Miltonvale, KS, sister Kathy & husband Jeff Smith of Jansen, brothers Doug Lichty & wife Debbie of Endicott, Jeff Lichty of Diller & significant other Paula Schoneweis of Wymore, half-sister Diane Rollen & husband Keith of Grand Island, sisters-in-law Sheryl McDaniel-Beadle & husband Gilbert of Fairbury, Rene’ Scheer & significant other Dave Summers of Alexandria, Sheri Zoch & fiancé Randy Hoadley of Beatrice, Donna Stansberry & husband Richard of Beatrice, Lori Cary & husband Jimmy of Holmesville, brothers-in-law Kevin Lugenbeel & wife Kelly of Adams, Kelly Davis & wife Sandie of Fairbury, Chris Davis & wife Katie of Fairbury, John Davis & wife Tammi of Fairbury and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday February 25, 2019 at the Presbyterian Church in Fairbury. The family will greet friends on Sunday February 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Memorials will go to the Family's Choice. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
