Sharron (Sherry) Serkes

February 7, 1943 — June 1, 2019

Sharron Jeannette (Sherry) Serkes passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Gardenside, in Fairbury, NE at the age of 76. Sherry was born February 7, 1943 in Berkeley, CA.  She was the daughter of Maurice Oscar and Dorothy Jeannette (Familton) Gould.

Sherry grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Cozad High School in 1960.

On November 12, 1961, she was united in marriage to Roger Lee Woodside. This union was blessed with two daughters, Lauri Lee and Melinda Lee.

Sherry eventually returned to her birth place in CA where she received a BA in Behavioral Studies. She became an ordained minister in 2000. Before Sherry went into the ministry she was in the corporate world as a Sales Manager at Ultimate Ears.  Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Shirley Gould, brothers Steve and Tom.  Sherry is survived by her children Lauri Hoins and husband, Patrick of Fairbury, NE; Melinda Harvey of Napa CA.  One grandchild, Anthony Fingerhut of Cozad, NE.  One great granddaughter Aubrey Nichole Fingerhut of Wahoo, NE. Two brothers, Jim Muir of Hutchison, KS and Randy (Julie) Gould of Beatrice. Two Sisters, Carol Ewing of Hutchison, KS and Jeanette Singer of Jones, OK.

Celebration of life will be held Friday, June 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairbury Gardens, Fairbury, NE with Doug Delhay officiating. Cremation has been chosen.  Memorials will go to the family's choice.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of the arrangements.
