Shirley Ann Eggert, born on May 7, 1943, in Odell, Nebraska to Allen and Luella (Overbeck) Grabowski, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at Gardenside LTC in Fairbury, Nebraska.
Shirley attended Country School District #32 before graduating from Diller Community School in 1961. Shirley was employed at the Kellwood/Swingsters garment factory until its closure in the summer of 2000. She then worked in the laundry department at Beatrice Community Hospital, where she continued to serve until her retirement.
A devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church, Shirley was baptized and confirmed there, and her faith remained a guiding force in her life. She married Roy Eggert on December 19, 1992, in Jansen, Nebraska. Together, they farmed and lived north of Jansen until their move to Cedarwood Assisted Living in March of 2025, where Shirley found joy and companionship among the friends she made.
Shirley's hobbies enriched her life, as she enjoyed engaging in word find puzzles, nurturing her flower garden, and sending heartfelt greeting cards to friends and family. Her kind nature and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Roy Eggert, of Fairbury; her sister, Bonnie (Leland) Baumfalk of Pickrell, Nebraska; and her nephews, Scott (Kathy) Baumfalk of Moseley, Virginia, and Michael (Connie) Baumfalk of Hickman, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law, Harlan and Hilda (Wegele) Eggert.
A Public Viewing will be held at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury on Monday, February 23, from 9AM to 4PM. Funeral Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury on Tuesday, February 24 at 11AM, followed by a luncheon at the church. Interment will be in the Jansen Cemetery, Jansen, NE. Memorials in Shirley's honor have been designated to Cedarwood Assisted Living. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. The service will be live streamed on the churches Facebook page at Grace Lutheran Church of Fairbury Nebraska.
