Teddy Don Fleck, born October 31st 1951 in Milwaukee, WI to Neil Hugh Fleck Sr. and Florence Fleck (Kwaitkowski). He grew up in Milwaukee and graduated high school in 1970. In 1971 he enlisted in the Navy and was recruited from there into the Marine Corps., and was honorably discharged in 1974.
He settled in Benicia, CA, where he married Patricia Griffin on June 12, 1976. To this union 3 daughters were born, Kimberly, Michelle and Jennifer. After his time in the military, he took a job as a civilian at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, overhauling submarines. After moving his family to Reynolds, NE, he took early retirement from Mare Island in 1995 and shortly thereafter began working at Endicott Clay Products in Endicott, NE.
Upon his separation from Patricia, and their subsequent divorce, he relocated to Fairbury, NE, where he continued working at Endicott, until health issues no longer permitted him to work. Over the years he enjoyed camping, fishing, card games, and dominoes as well as taking his family on outings. Holidays were always very important to him, at which times he would prepare large meals, even getting artistic with food by creating birdcages, baby carriages, swans, and flower vases all out of fruits and vegetables. He had a passion for working on vehicles and rarely bought one that didn’t need fixed. He even served as part of a stock car racing pit crew while living in California and seeing our kitchen table covered in newspapers and various car parts was normal on weekends. Toward the end of his life his greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was taken from us too soon May 21, 2015 in a tragic accident.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children Kimberly Fleck and special friend Kevin Shadduck of Fairbury, Michelle Fleck and special friend James Feldhausen of Beatrice, and Jennifer Schnell and husband Tim of Ankeny, IA.
