Terry Lee Shinn

Terry Lee Shinn of Wilber, NE formerly of Fairbury, NE passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at the age of 61. Born July 15, 1962, to Everett and Marilyn (Asche) Shinn in Fairbury, Nebraska. Terry was raised in Fairbury, NE. Terry grew up loving sports, fixing cars, and spending time with friends and cousins. Terry’s family and friends were so important to him that you would often find him at their places for several days at a time. Even though Terry grew up with only one brother, many of his friends and cousins felt like extra siblings. Terry worked for Swingsters in Fairbury for many years as a sewing machine mechanic before starting his own lawn care service called Clean Cut Lawn Service. Terry helped care for lawns around the Fairbury area for local home owners, the hospital and Heritage Care Center grounds, and several cemeteries. Terry moved to Wilber, Nebraska and expanded his lawn care to include tree removal and trimming services as well as caring for the Wilber cemetery, Hallam Power Plant, and Farmland property. In 2013, Terry met the love of his life Becky Crist. Becky and Terry were united in marriage on August 15, 2015. The couple loved traveling to Becky’s house in Ainsworth, helping her family out with branding, camping, and fishing. Terry enjoyed being a grandfather and teaching his grandsons everything he knew. Terry was an avid gun enthusiast and collector of many things. Terry enjoyed visiting, Diet Mountain Dew, and always being on the move. Terry was preceded in death by his mom Marilyn Shinn and Becky’s son Billy Joe Lamb. He is survived by his wife Becky (Rebecca Crist), daughter Jennifer Hoepker (Alex) of Bartlett, grandsons, Tucker, Jayden, and Jasper, father, Everett Shinn, brother, Gary Shinn (Cynthia) of Fairbury and nieces Ryan Deike (Paul) of Omaha, Johanna Shinn of Omaha, Jarrod Shinn (Kendall) of Central City, great-nieces Logan Deike, Emery Shinn, great-nephew Wyatt Deike, and many aunts and uncles and cousins.
A visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, January 3rd from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury, NE. The memorial services are to be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Fairbury, NE on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 5 at 2:00 pm at Ainsworth Cemetery in Ainsworth, NE. The family asks that you wear casual attire to the services as Terry was always most comfortable and seen in blue jeans. Memorials will be donated to the family’s choice.
