Tim Lemmon

Timothy Gale Lemmon was born on Father’s Day, June 19, 1955, in Fairbury, NE to Orval and Beulah (Thornburg) Lemmon. After they lost one son, Tim was the long awaited boy after 8 older sisters.

Tim always enjoyed playing sports, and watching sports. After watching All Star Wrestling his sisters were often the unwilling participants in his wrestling maneuvers. His nieces and nephews remember many hours of tossing the football around with him in the street and playing Horse at East Ward School.

Tim was an avid and loyal Husker football fan and we will always remember him yelling “COME ON, NEBRASKA!!!”

As a teenager he worked dispatch at the police department and all of the officers became his friends. Later in life Tim made many long-lasting friends while working at Kellwood and Swingster’s. He worked there for many years until his health forced him to retire.

Tim also had a lifelong love of music, never struggling for the words, as he knew them all by heart. Many of his nieces and nephews attribute their love of music to what Tim always had playing in his room. Some of his favorites were Elton John, James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, Ronnie Milsap and Gordon Lightfoot.

Tim could be stubborn as a mule, but always had a big heart. He loved to help his neighbors, whether it was helping to carry in groceries or moving people from one house to another, which was his expertise. He helped countless people, never accepting any compensation. He did it because he wanted to.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Beulah Lemmon, brother, Delbert Lemmon and sister, Joyce Nutz.

Tim will be greatly missed by his remaining 8 sisters: Donna (Dan) Walenta of Frankfort, MI, Ardyth Orwen and Tamara Bulin of Beatrice, NE, Connie (Dick) Priefert of Eagle NE, Evelyn (John) DaLao of Lincoln NE, Madeline (Bob) Kapke, Linda (Dick) English, and Susan Lemmon all of Fairbury, NE, brother-in-law Lawrence Nutz of Fairmont, NE, 16 nieces and nephews and countless extended family members and friends.

Services will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury with Darlene Novotny officiating. Burial in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Family's Choice.
