Twila Joan Roth

January 20, 1939 — May 14, 2024

Fairbury

Twila Joan Roth, 85 was a devoted wife and loving mother, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, at the Columbus Hospital. She was born on January 20, 1938, in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, to her parents Jacob and Mabel (Hobbs) Oswald. She graduated from Beaver Crossing High School in 1957.  Twila’s life was marked by compassion, faith, and unwavering dedication to her husband and family.

For over five decades, Twila called Fairbury her home, where she shared her life with her beloved husband, Leland James Roth. Their marriage, which began on June 14, 1958, was a testament to enduring love and commitment. Together, they raised two children: Todd of Fairbury and Trudy Fritz (Moyle) of Wellington, FL.  Twila cherished her role as a mother, instilling in her children the importance of kindness, resilience, and empathy.

Twila’s heart overflowed with joy when she became a grandmother. Trey Fritz (Malinda) from Stuart, FL and Kohlman Fritz of Wellington, FL brought immense happiness to her life, and she relished every moment spent with them. Her legacy lives on through the love and wisdom she imparted to her grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Twila actively participated in church activities. She was a dedicated member of the Four Square Church in Fairbury, where her warm smile and welcoming spirit touched the lives of many. Later, she continued her faith journey at Jansen Bible Church in Jansen where she found solace and community.  Twila was always eager to lend a helping hand. Whether organizing church events, signing in the choir, or offering a listening ear to those in need, Twila exemplified the true spirit of compassion.

Her work ethic was evident during her years of service at JC Penney’s, where she contributed to the local community. Later, she retired from Walmart as Manager of the Jewelry Department, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Twila’s faith was unwavering. Her strong belief in God sustained her through life’s challenges, and she found comfort in prayer and fellowship. Her devotion to her church and her faith inspired those around her.

Twila was survived by one sister Dorla of Owens Cross Roads, AL. and preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Mabel as well as sisters Darlene and Jeannine and brothers Vesper and Ron, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. Twila’s impact on her family will forever resonate, as her kindness and generosity continue to inspire others.

The family will host visitation for friends and family from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, May 20 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury.  A memorial service to celebrate Twila’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 21 at Believe Assembly of God Church in Jansen. A luncheon following the service will be provided followed by graveside services at the Fairbury Cemetery.

May Twila rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
