Henry Vaughn Cline (known as Vaughn to all) was born October 31, 1924 on the family farm, in the house his Great Grandfather John Flock had built, northwest of Haddam Kansas, the 3rd son of Chester Henry and Ora (Landis) Cline. He was welcomed home by Jesus on August 30, 2006 from the Good Samaritan Care Center, Beatrice, Nebraska.
Vaughn graduated 8th grade from Horseshoe rural school, in Kansas. He graduated High school from Haddam, Kansas in 1943.
He was baptized and became a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in 1950. In 1958 he transferred his membership to the First Baptist Church at Fairbury Nebraska., where he was active as long as his health permitted.
Vaughn and Rosella Fern Myers were married on September 10, 1950 in Fairbury, Nebraska by Rev. Mary Wellbaum. Three daughters were born to this union; LaVonna Kidder, Alvadine Gilliland & Jolene Banks
He farmed with his dad and worked for Stanton Hardware in Morrowville, Kansas prior to entering the service.
He was called to military service during the Korean War, serving from October 1950 to October 1952, in the reconstruction of Germany.
In November 1952 Vaughn and Rosella moved to Fairbury, Nebraska where he went to work for Riley Ford Motor Company as a body repairman.
In 1961 he went to work for Vaughn’s Appliance as an appliance repairman. He worked for them for 30 years. He then worked on his own as an appliance repairman.
Vaughn was a Life member of the American Legion and the Jefferson County Historical Society, spending many hours renovating the Steele City School.
Vaughn enjoyed working with wood, making bird houses and clocks, fishing, working in the garden and traveling. He enjoyed the challenge of taking something that everyone else said would no longer work and fixing it. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Chester Cleo.
He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years Rosella, daughters LaVonna Kidder and husband Mike of Lincoln, Nebraska, Alvadine Gilliland and husband Kevin of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jolene Banks and husband Scott of Adams, Nebraska. Grandchildren Jed Pedersen and his wife Andrea of Columbia Maryland, Sarah and her husband Will Baden of Lincoln, Nebraska, Aubrey & Savannah Banks of Adams Nebraska., Two brothers, Paul Cline and wife Mary of Hebron, Nebraska, Robert Cline and wife Clara of Haddam, Kansas, Sister-in-law Iola Carter and husband Louis of Morrowville, Kansas. Numerous Nieces & Nephews & Cousins.
Services will be Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Stoops officiating. Interment will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Rural Haddam, Kansas.
Visitation will be Monday, September 4, from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Tuesday, September 5, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home.
