Velma Wegele

Velma L. Wegele of Fairbury, formerly Jansen, died on January 21, 2007 at Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 86. She was born on December 31, 1920 at DeWitt, Nebraska the daughter of William and Magdalena Blomenkamp Eggert. She was baptized in the Christian faith on January 23, 1921 and confirmed on April 9, 1933. She was a communicant member of Grace Lutheran Church at the time of her death. She was a housewife, worked at Swingsters, was an avid bowler, crocheted afghans and enjoyed cooking. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She married Alvin Wegele on January 10, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Jansen.

Survivors include her daughter Diane and husband Merlin Saale of Talmage, Nebraska, son Lyle and wife Sherril Wegele of Jansen, sister in law Kathren Mees of Fairbury, 5 grandchildren, John Pleis, James Pleis, Brian and wife Tiffany Wegele, Brent Wegele and Kara and husband Ryan Burbach and 2 great grandchildren, Charles Dean Wegele and Sage Marie Burbach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Harlan Eggert and son-in-law Richard Pleis.

Services will be on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery.
